Matt has taught college history since 2011 and is currently an Adjunct Professorial Lecturer at American University after previous teaching appointments at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and Howard Community College.
His current teaching load alternates between a course on the various conflicts over drugs throughout American history and a course focused on U.S. social history and change.
Social Forces that Shaped America
This course focuses on the history of race, class, and gender and the mechanisms of social conflict and social change from the late nineteenth century to the present.
American Drug Wars
This unique course offers a survey of the American experience with drugs and follows the history of alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, and prohibited intoxicants from the colonial era to the present.
